🛐 Idolatry
Scripture:‍ ‍Colossians 3:1-4

Main Idea:
When we stay focused on who we are in Jesus, idols loose their power.

Continue the Conversation at Home:

• What is an idol?

• What was hardest for you to imagine losing during the “Take It Away” game, and why do you think that mattered so much to you?

•  What are some examples of common idols people have today?

  • What about you?

  • What Idols do you have…or what things do you turn to for comfort instead of or value more than God?   

Read Exodus 20:1-6

• What does this passage reveal about who God is and how He relates to His people?

  • In what ways does that show God is greater than any idol?

• What steps will you take to become aware of any idols you might have in your life

  • Who can you go to for help in overcoming idols.

  • How can confessing any idols we might have help us?

• How does focusing on who God is, what He has done for us, and how He relates to His people help keep us from having idols in our lives?  

• We talked about how Jesus became the ultimate Passover Lamb.  What does that mean?  

  1. In what ways will you focus on Jesus and what He has done for you in order to grow or reorient your love for Him?  

  2. What is your favorite thing about Jesus and what He has done for you?  

  3. How does focusing on Jesus and what He has done for us help us live a lifestyle of worship?

• Where do you need to trust God more in your life and how will you do that?

👑 King & Kingdom
Scripture:‍ ‍Mark 10:35-45

Main Idea:
Greatness in God’s Kingdom is found in serving.

Continue the Conversation at Home:

• What is the greatest act of kindness/serving that you’ve ever witnessed in person? (Other than Jesus).

Read Mark 10:35-45

• What did James and John request from Jesus?

  • Why did they make that request?

  • What does it show us about how they viewed power, position, or success?

• Jesus said, “You don’t know what you are asking!” What did He mean?

• How is Jesus’s view of greatness different from the worlds or culture’s view?

• What are some ways Jesus served others?

  • Which stands out the most? Why?

• What opportunities do you have to serve others in the places you’re in every day?

• In what parts of your life or situations do you struggle to serve others?     

  • How could you serve in those areas/situations?

• Jesus gave His life as a “ransom for many.” What does that mean to you personally?

  • How does it shape your view of Him as King?

• As followers of Jesus, we should love and serve others because we have been loved and served by Jesus.

  • How can focusing on that truth change your perspective on why serving is important and why it is the path to greatness in God’s Kingdom?
