Outreach Pastor

Meet sam

I was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas but fell in love with Manhattan during my time at K-State. During my third year at KSU I was listening to a lecture on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the professor explained that Maslow believed self-actualization was the top psychological need an achievement for all people. I can distinctly remember the Holy Spirit bringing forth the following thought to my mind and heart: “That’s not true. God is the greatest need for all people. And if you really want to help people, you’ve got to give your life to making that clear.” That was the beginning of my call to ministry. After graduating K-State in 2010 I moved to Colorado in 2011, where I earned a Masters of Divinity at Denver Seminary. In 2015 God called my wife (Alison) and I back to Kansas to make our home in a place we both know and love full well. ;)

At Faith I serve as the Outreach Pastor, which means I get to help people explore what it means to play out their part in God’s redemptive mission. Whether you feel called to serve in a foreign country thousands of miles away or make Manhattan your missions field, my goal is to help equip you for loving your neighbor and sharing the Gospel.

A few other things about me: I married my amazing and awesome wife in July 2012 (we first met while attending K-State). I love dogs, books, and sports. Arrow Coffee Co is my local coffee shop. I enjoy walking the trails all over and around Manhattan. I’m all in on the Chiefs, Royals, and of course the Wildcats.
