I grew up in Kentucky in a Christian home, going to church at least 3 times a week. I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour when I was in 5th grade. I loved Bible drill, choir and being with my friends at church.
I went to college in Tennessee, majoring in Chemistry. After graduating, I worked to support my husband while he was in graduate school and our two children followed shortly after his graduation.
The corporate world sent us moving quite often. Every move was the family adjustment of finding a new church and school. I realized the loneliness of coming to church and not belonging and having the desire to get involved. But God always provided us ‘family’ in our church, regardless of where we lived.
While we were in Omaha, I felt the call to be more involved at church. With the kids in their teen years, God opened the doors for me to do just that working part time in Women’s Ministry at our church.
When we moved to Manhattan in 2015, we knew immediately that God had a place for us at Faith and in Manhattan. My husband, Gordon, is a professor at Kansas State and we love the college culture here. I stepped into the role of Welcome Team Director in 2017 and I have been so blessed and encouraged as I lead our team.
Our daughter Kristin, her husband Tyler, our son Aaron and grandson Isaac all live in Omaha so we try to get back there often.
