Current Sermon Series: Is God Faithful?
A Study in Romans 9-11

Why do two children who grow up in the same home have very different responses to the message about Jesus? Why do some entire groups of people respond to the gospel with heartfelt faith while others largely reject that message altogether? If the message about Jesus is true, why don’t more people believe?

Paul’s discussion in Romans 9 through 11 provides a context for thinking through such questions. In the first century relatively few Jews accepted Paul’s message about Jesus. Paul’s Jewish opponents used this observation against him: “Since the vast majority of Christians are Gentiles, Paul's message about Jesus cannot be from God because the Jews are God’s chosen people. If Paul’s message is true, God’s word has failed.” Paul skillfully uses Old Testament Scriptures to answer that God has always been and will always be faithful to His word.
